Slow content means busy schedule
Shawn Morgan's Blog - Living Happier, Healthier, Financially Independent, and Boss-Free By Shawn Morgan on 8/31/2007 12:09 PM
So, I haven't taken the opportunity to write anything in the last couple of weeks. Things have been busy with me working on entrepreneurial-type stuff. In other words, I've been making money and working for my company. This sounds good on the surface, but currently I'm doing the self-employed thing, meaning that I'm doing all of the work to make the money.

So, is this a problem? Well, not for the short term. Ultimately though, I need to be able to grow a business, and be more on the Business Owner side. I'll try to put a post together tomorrow discussing the different types of people and the different types of "work" that those people do, and you will get a better understanding of what I'm talking about.

Check back tomorrow.

Decision Making 101 - Conquering LIF
Shawn Morgan's Blog - Living Happier, Healthier, Financially Independent, and Boss-Free By Shawn Morgan on 8/15/2007 2:14 PM

I’ve always been a decision maker.  In fact, during my time with the Boss, that is probably the one thing that has made the most difference in my success, the ability to make decisions.  During meetings, I would make decisions.  Outside of meetings, I would make decisions.  In my cube, I would make decisions.  In the hall, I would make decisions.

I feel that this ability to make decisions really set me apart fr ...

Don't Yuck My Yum
Shawn Morgan's Blog - Living Happier, Healthier, Financially Independent, and Boss-Free Personal Development By Shawn Morgan on 8/8/2007 8:13 AM
My girlfriend came home a few days ago and mentioned that she had heard something on National Public Radio that I thought was interesting. She told me a story about a Dad who was raising a young child. As a Father, he was always trying to teach his son life’s lessons.
One day, while they were out eating at a restaurant, the son was dipping his pickles in ketchup before eating them. The father thought this was gross, and told the child that it was disgusting. The child looked at him with a hurt look on his face, and loudly proclaimed, “Don’t yuck my yum!”.
Ah, out of the mouths of babes…the child had just taught the Father something very important.
There have been many times in my ...

Made it to Google's Front Page!
Shawn Morgan's Blog - Living Happier, Healthier, Financially Independent, and Boss-Free Making Money on the Web By Shawn Morgan on 8/7/2007 5:48 PM

Ok, this probably isn't much of a "win", but less then one day after getting my site submitted to Google's index search and "buying" my ad, I've made it to Google's front page when you search for "Shawn Morgan"!

As of this posting, I am now listed #3 for "Shawn Morgan's", falling only behind the Bad Boy of Comedy and the NFL player.  I've inched past the NFL Europe player and the catfish fisherman!

Great!  Now I'm going to start working on coming up for searches that are perhaps more meaningful...this will be the hard part.

Where am I? Getting your Google on.
Shawn Morgan's Blog - Living Happier, Healthier, Financially Independent, and Boss-Free Making Money on the Web By Shawn Morgan on 8/7/2007 5:42 PM
So, here I am writing these blogs, hoping to share information with others about living boss-free and being financially independent…and as of yesterday, Google knew nothing about ShawnMorgan.com. In fact, if you did a search for Shawn Morgan, the top listing that comes up is “Shawn Morgan – A bad boy of comedy.” There is also a Shawn Morgan who is a NFL football player, an NFL Europe Linebacker, and a catfish fisherman. There actually are a ton of Shawn Morgans. I actually do show up on the fourth page for bluearchsolutions.com, my IT consulting company, but that isn’t really what I’m focused on right now.
Obviously, being listed high on Google is very important to driving traffic to your website. Google gets 25% of all traffic on ...

The View of Others
Shawn Morgan's Blog - Living Happier, Healthier, Financially Independent, and Boss-Free By Shawn Morgan on 8/3/2007 12:02 PM
One very interesting thing that I noticed when I decided to quit my job to be Boss-Free was the response from my co-workers. There were two distinctive camps that people fell into; The Work-Lifers and The Wishers.

The First Day of the Rest of My Life
Shawn Morgan's Blog - Living Happier, Healthier, Financially Independent, and Boss-Free By Shawn Morgan on 8/3/2007 11:24 AM

So after 13 years of working in a corporate setting, doing the 8-5 thing Monday through Friday, I took the big plunge.  It was a long time coming...

I've worked in a lot of companies over the years.  Several of them were Fortune 500, and a couple Fortune 100, companies...basically, they were big.  I also worked in several smaller companies with as few as 10 people.  But ultimately, it all seemed the same to me.  I would go to work in the morning, spend my 8-9 hours there, and come home.  I always did a great job for my managers, always got good reviews from my managers and peers, and received many promotions.  However, things always seemed empty to me.

My job was a job...I mean, a real job, one of those things that you hated going to every morning.  I hated waking up in the morning, hated driving into work, hated doing my work, and hated thinking about having to go to work the next ...
